STRESSED OUT!

by Maggie on June 21, 2011

Stressed Out

I hope everyone had a great weekend and a very Happy Father’s Day! I apologize for not posting these last few days. It’s been very busy and stressful around here with Father’s Day, my daughters last ballet class/performance for the year, out of town friends of the family visiting, planning my daughter’s birthday party, and unpacking.

We moved into our house a year ago and still have not unpacked all of the boxes. With our daughter’s 4th birthday party coming up in a few weeks, we have decided to get this done. I will also get my office finally set up. I set these as my goals for 2011 back in January but it has been slow going.

Everyday we walk through the garage and look at all of the boxes and bins just sitting there piled up high. And everyday we say we have to get it done and we start but something always comes up and we don’t finish. Well, no more procrastination. We are on a mission. I intend to update my 2011 goals by July 8th with these two items as completed.

My 2011 Goals Update (4/23/11)

by Maggie on April 23, 2011

Back in January I posted my 2011 goals. Well, I figured it’s time to post an update (finally). As a recap, here are the goals that I posted and an update on each one.

  • Post more deals on Snag A Bargain. I know I haven’t posted as much as I should and I will remedy that. - Still working on this one. With illnesses running rampant through our household these last few months, I have not been able to really do this properly.
  • Work on growing this site. - Work in progress but have made some great strides!
  • Finish Painting. We moved to a new house this year and I still haven’t finished. - DONE!
  • Unpack all of the boxes from the move. - Still working on this one!
  • Start decorating. As I unpack everything, I will finally be able to start decorating! - Haven’t started this one yet.
  • Finally set up my office. – Still working on this one.
  • Find a job. - No luck yet.
  • Setup a monthly grocery budget. I will be trying the cash envelope system. – While I have not tried the cash envelope system, I have been doing great cutting our grocery budget. Still want to cut it some more.
  • Learn to manage my time. – Wow…I put that on there. Well, I am still trying to figure this one out. Maybe once I set up my office it will be easier.
  • Save money for a Memorial Day weekend vacation to Storyland and our annual summer camping trip to Sebago Lake in Maine! - It’s tough saving money when you don’t have any money to save but I am glad to report that both trips are booked!
  • Get in shape – I have started this one by cutting out soda and I am glad to report that I have lost 12 lbs!

So as you can see, I still have some work to do but I am making progress!

How are you doing on your 2011 goals?

What Makes Me So Lucky?

by Maggie on March 9, 2011

FREE Redbox Rental Code

The only thing better than $1 a night movies – free movies!  Lucky you, redbox is giving everyone the chance to score free movie credits now through St. Patrick’s Day during the redbox Lucky to Have Friends Like You promotion. Each fan receives a unique web address. Every time someone rents from your address through March 17, you get a free movie credit. Rental credits are valid for ten (10) days after they’ve been deposited into your account. Spread the word, and lucky you could be rolling in free movies this March.

So What Makes Me Feel Lucky?

I consider myself very lucky because I married my soul mate. Before I met my husband, I would have told you that there is no such thing as soul mates. I knew that you could love someone but that was it for me. And then I met my husband.

From the very beginning, I could tell there was something different about him, about our relationship. I was able to be open and honest with him about everything right from the beginning. I was able to be my quirky self and he accepted me for me. Right from the beginning it had felt like we belong together. Being with him felt so right that there was no doubt in my mind when he asked me to marry him and there was no doubt the day we got married.

Almost a year after we were married, our daughter was born. He has been a very hands on daddy. He did not hesitate when it came to changing diapers and he would let me sleep through the night by taking a nighttime feeding. No matter how hurt or tired he was, he never once complained about having to take care of his little girl. Over the last almost 4 years, I have watched him and he definitely has a way with her. The way he talks to her, encourages her, and teaches her is amazing. He is so patient with her when it comes to everything. It’s actually funny because sometimes she will say something that I just can not understand and he’ll know exactly what she said. It’s like they have their own little language.

Our relationship seems to be getting better with each day that passes. We treat each other as equal partners. There is no such thing as my job or his job. He is always doing something for me or letting me have me time. We are still very open and honest with each other. We love spending time together (sometimes doing the silliest things). He is always there supporting me in everything that I do, no matter how off the wall. He always tells me that he is my #1 fan. Well let me tell you, I am very lucky to have such a wonderful man in my life. He is my best friend. This year we will celebrate our five year wedding anniversary and let me tell you, I have no idea where the last five years have gone but they have been a blast!
