Tips To Avoid Paid Survey Scams

by Maggie on December 15, 2009

Paid Surveys

There seems to be an increase in online survey scams despite the many warnings. Why do people continue to fall for these scams? The attraction of quick and easy money is the main reason. Getting something for little to no work seems to appeal to many people. Unfortunately, if it were that easy, wouldn’t everyone jump on board?

The web is a place for both the good and the bad. To distinguish the good from the bad takes little skill. More and more people are going online everyday and it’s these people that are most vulnerable to paid survey scams. So how can you spot these scams?

1. Outrageous claims – If it’s too good to be true then it’s probably a scam.

2. Outrageous testimonials – It is easy to fake testimonials. People look for justification and putting up some testimonials is enough to satisfy most.

3. Guarantees and documented evidence – These too can be faked. If you see a guarantee for your money back, make sure to read the disclaimer.

4. Being asked to pay for surveys – You don’t pay your employer for the privilege of working for them so why would you pay someone for the privilege of taking surveys? A legitimate paid survey company makes their money from the companies that they represent so they wouldn’t ask you to pay.

5. Lack of contact details – If you can’t find any contact details then this is most likely a paid survey scam.

These are the major indications of paid survey scams. The sites that are reviewed here at Snag A Bargain are scam free. These paid survey sites are tested and are proven to be legitimate. I am here to help you avoid falling victim to paid survey scams.

Survey Savvy

by Maggie on December 9, 2009

Survey Savvy

Another great paid survey site is Survey Savvy. I have been with them for about 4 years now. They don’t send out as many surveys as I would like but the quality of the surveys is really good and the compensation is great.

Based on your profile, you will occasionally get a screener survey. A screener survey is a short questionnaire to see if you qualify for the survey. Once you qualify for the survey, you will immediately be taken to the full survey. The average payout for completion of a survey is $2 to $20 with focus groups paying more. If you do not qualify for the survey, you will be entered into a monthly drawing for one of fifty $10 prizes.

Upon sign up, you must complete all of the portrait questionnaires in the member’s area. This will increase the number or survey invitations. Make sure to take all of the paid surveys that Survey Savvy sends you. Their payouts are excellent and since they don’t send out as many invitations, you should take advantage of all the invitations that they do send. So hurry up and sign up for Survey Savvy so you don’t miss out on anymore surveys.

A Little Survey Advice

by Maggie on December 8, 2009

Paid Surveys

The most important thing about making money with surveys is staying organized.  I highly recommend setting up a separate email address to be used only for your survey invitations.  Gmail is great for this and it is free but you can use any email provider.

With a dedicated email address, you know that when you log in and see all of the unread emails, that these are all of your new survey invitations.  You can set up a folder for all of your welcome emails that way you can file all of your passwords in one place.

It is important to check your email as often as possible to see if any new survey invitations have been sent to you.  This way, you don’t miss out on the good ones as sometimes they fill up fast.  I hope this helps.

Lightspeed Consumer Panel

by Maggie on December 4, 2009

What will be next years hot new toy?

Lightspeed Consumer Panel is one of my favorite survey companies. I have been with them for about 4 years and couldn’t be happier. They offer a nice steady stream of surveys and good compensation.

Once you sign up, make sure you complete all of the profile surveys in the member’s area. You may also find quick match surveys that can make you eligible for more surveys so make sure to also complete them. In addition to the profile and quick match surveys, the member’s area contains your current survey invitations.

The quick match surveys and the mini polls are rewarded with an entry into the $5000 Lightspeed Sweepstakes. The actual surveys are rewarded with points that can be redeemed for cash or prizes, a sweepstakes entry, and an entry into the Points-A-Day Giveaway. The average points rewarded for surveys is 75-300 and more in depth surveys and product trials have higher rewards. The minimum needed for redemption is 1150 points which equals $10 and payouts are made via Paypal.

In order to keep your account active, you should take at least one to two surveys per week. It’s also a good idea to keep your profile updated, take some of the Mini Polls, and take all of the quick match surveys. If you follow these steps, you should receive plenty of survey invitations from Lightspeed Consumer Panel.
