Corporate health and wellness programs are designed to help nurture wellness in their employees. Corporate wellness programs can be found in small companies, large companies, factories, and corporate offices.
There are many different types of corporate wellness programs that are offered by different companies. These can include exercise options, online support, quit smoking information and support, health risk assessments, and vaccinations. These programs can be outsourced or they can be managed in house. One thing they all have in common is that they are all focused on improving the health and wellness of the employees.
Corporate wellness programs have become very popular these days. The companies are not only investing in the health and wellness of their employees, but they are also taking preventive measures by creating a healthier environment.
Companies with corporate wellness programs are actually able to improve the overall productivity as well as save money on health care expenses. By encouraging healthier lifestyles, they are creating healthier employees who will work more diligently and miss fewer days of work due to illness.
My company’s Human Resources department runs our corporate wellness program. They provide access to online health and wellness information along with monthly emails full of tips. Every October, they offer onsite flu shots and the sign up sheet is always more than full.
They also run different contest throughout the year. During the summer months, they have a walking contest. Each location is a team and the members of that team measure how far they walk daily. During these months, there are many people that will actually go outside at lunch and go for a walk. At the end of the summer, the location with the longest distance walked would win.
They have also run a weight loss contest. They had an initial weigh in and then the ending weigh in. During a specific period of time, the person that lost the highest percentage of weight would win.
The best program that my company offers has to be the CrossFit training. They have a private trainer come to the office three times a week for workouts. With the deal that they have worked out, it only costs five dollars for each semi private hour long session as long as there are at least fifteen people signed up. We have easily hit the fifteen person minimum for each eight week session that has been offered.
Make sure to check if your company offers a corporate health and wellness program so that you can take advantage of it to help you get healthier!
